Well the tv wasn't cheap so i guess i dont want a cheap setup, what price range are we looking at ????

All the surround systems i've seen come with a dvd player which is pointless when u already have one !!!!!!!!!!

A surround sound can range from a few hundred to several thousand.

What's your budget?

Is this for dvd only (AV) or dvd and music? Floorstanders or a sub/ sat system? How big is the room?

A typical 5.1 system comprises a DVD player, an AV amp (receiver), 2 front speakers, a centre speaker, 2 rear surround speakers and a subwoofer.

The front and centre should be the same make/ range; the rears can be a different make. The sub can be whatever fits your budget. Or you can go 2.1 (fronts and a sub).
