I am looking to buy a denon DVD3910 and Denon AVR-3805. Unfortunatly this does not leave me with enough money to get any decent speakers. I will save and get some. But in the meantime would I be able to use my speakers off my JVC THS55 system, (cheap and cheerful) They attach to my current JVC sub via 2 wires one +ive and the other -ive. Im new to home cinema but really want something that will blow me away, I understand it wont be untill I get some decent speakers to go with the denon kit.

    Hope someone can help.

Also any recommendations on good speakers to go with above appreciated, my budget is approx £1000 once I save it up.

why not get the speakers and amp now but skip the DVD3910 until you have more money? Pick up a cheap but good player from Pioneer or Tosh and enjoy the sound now? By the time you have saved the 3910 will have been replaced with something better and possibly cheaper.

    Just a thought :)

Yes, but the point is to spend the cash now on speakers and not on the DVD player....

depends on your budget, the size of the things, what you want to use them for....eg. music as well as home cinema.... and your ears :)

Best option too is to get a nice pair of speakers, then the sub, then the center and rears...

Ive decided to get the DVD Player and Amp first. Back to speakers Im looking at watching movies almost all the time. I notice these had good reviews

    http://www.petertyson.co.uk/cent images/tannoyefx/efx.pdf

although the max power is 100w, does that mean I should not turn the receiver up to max volume. To be honest my room is small so probably won't go above 50% vol anyway. I was thinking as these are cheap I could get the whole lot together. :D

These are the speaker I already have, look more poweful, should I just keep these.

Forget speakers power, speakers don't have power, amps do.

Look at efficiency, impedance, and freq. response...

As for power, you use about half the power of a car everyday, but you need the extra power to pass other cars, accelerate, etc, the same with music...
