Speaker Positioning

Can anyone tell me if it's OK to place my subs (awaiting delivery at the moment) at the rear above the sitting position. My problem is that I have an nine foot high living room (very old house) with some shelving at the rear. I would like to place the subs above the shelving and tilt them down toward the sitting position. Will this make them sound sh*t and detract from their overall performance?

i'd be more worried about the subs breaking the shelving to be honest!

The tilting of the subs should make little difference since bass is, supposedly, non directional.

There is no good reason not to try it out.

Sorry Buns

I'm a fool. I meant that I was placing my sats there! Only getting one sub which is going at the side of the settee.

You really had me worried there! :D

The rears are generally better up high....... certainly my little mission ones are much better at a height.
