Hi all,

I have taken some steps to improve my office listening environment, namely:

  • Quad Vena II
  • Neat Motive 3
  • 2no. 600x1200x50 panels mounted with 2no remaining to be placed
  • Started putting books and bits and bobs on the window sill in an effort to scatter reflections
  • Ikea shelf to the left which will have more bits and bobs as and when

Below is an updated image of my office and here are some dimensions:

  • Centre of drivers 55cm from side wall and 35cm from back wall
  • listening position is slightly below tweeter height
  • 140cm between left and right speakers, considerable toe-in, no camber
  • Room is 250x350x250 cm

I'm wondering what I could try next to try and optimise the SQ? Perhaps pull the desk and speakers away from the rear wall to give everything a bit more space? i'm conscious that I need the baffles to be forward of the main screen.

Thank you!

Cambrer works wonders for racing tyres, I have never heard of it applied to speakers.
Maybe you mean tilt upwards / downwards towards the listener?

I would buy thick, heavy curtains for the window, possibly extending slightly wider than the window itself.

I might well be getting yaw and camber confused. But yes, up or down tilt.

Will look into curtains. Do you think there is any merit in pulling the desk & speakers away from the window?

As Nico72 says, heavy curtains, double layer if possible.

Extend them as close to the wall corners as you can. Right up there if you can and even when open have them overlapping into the window space.

Most of any harsh reflections left will be coming from behind the speakers.

You don’t mention having any acoustic panels attached to the ceiling.

I’d place two panels to the ceiling. Perhaps bass traps in the corners, located where you have the guitars placed.

Or buy/diy bookshelves. Pillows too.

Tie together thick rug too. Many solution.

If you clap your hands. Is there an echo then? If it is try the options mentioned.

However it’s not good idea to over damping the listing room. The listing room is then “dead”.

Good luck.
