Speaker positioning for 6.1

    Products Wanted:
Due to the layout of my room I have to have my sofa right up against the rear wall.
Also due to the wife my surround speakers are currently set at about 2m height on the side wall up against the room corners, pointing down towards the listening position.
In the near future I would want to add either 1 or 2 more speakers for 6.1/7.1 surround sound.
I don't have a problem moving the left/right surrounds further into the room,
the problem comes with the rear channel speakers. Given that the listen position is right up against the rear wall, how the hell do I position them as I'll be sitting directly under them. I'd have to point them directly downwards, which I can't image will do much for the sound stage.
Or should I just not bother and use the two spare channels on the amp for presence speakers instead (using the yamaha DSP modes).
