Just looking for some thoughts on the best place to site my speakers
in the room. I mainly sit in one of the two armchairs shown.

The main concern is the one speaker behind the sofa in the window. Would
I be better moving that more behind the 2 armchairs?

I would put the two rear speakers behind the chairs and consider moving the speaker next the fireplace to the other side. Dont forget you would need to alter the volume to compensate for the changes

Another option to try is the Front Left and Right either side of your TV (move the sub if you have to) - with the speakers toed out to get a bit of width in the sound stage.

I'd try moving the Right surround to the corner of the window bay - leaving the Left surround where it is - if these are floor mounted cabinets I'd be tempted to replace them with wall mounted enclosures to get the surround speakers above ear height..

See http://www.dolby.com/consumer/home_entertainment/roomlayout.html for some layout tips; note the Corner Room set up.
