Speaker help

    Hello, can anyone help with some speaker suggestions for a room 6m x 5.5m, suitable for rock music, around £1k budget, will be happy sited in corner of room - toed in 45 degree's, havn't decided on which amp yet, but looking at NAD C372 or Rotel RA 1062.

    If you're spending that kind of money you owe it to yourself to do some serious auditioning with both the speakers and amp.

    Have a look at the Monitor Audio RS6 and RS8's maybe?

    That's a big square room you're gonna be using them in, might be an idea to budget a little for some acoustic treatment to the room to really get the best out of them. I only mention it because I've been doing a lot of reading about it recently and it's fascinating. Make more difference to the sound of your system than any amount of money you could throw at cables and stuff.

    The PMC GB1s would be worth auditioning at that price point, although a 45 degree toe in is probably not advisable for best perfromance.

    The practical acoustics article at the top is very well written and explains all the problems that you may encounter. With practical solutions that need not cost anything or make your lounge look like a recording studio.

    It's all to do with the way sound interacts with your room.
