    Can anyone help?

I have just bought some new speakers and want to get them positioned right,
I know the tweeter are supposed to be at around ear height but my centre is slightly lower because of the unit its sat on (cant go any higher for screen)

What I need to know is, do I buy stands for L&R that keep them all the same height (slightly lower than ear) or do I buy stands for L&R that are at the correct height, which will make them about 7" higher than centre.

My feeling is keep them all the same height. Will the difference really matter that much?

I suppose ideally it be better if the front three were all level.
I think in practice most peoples centre is at a different height, in fact, many high end systems will have the centre at a lower level - housed, or on a stand, below the display (tv, plasma, screen etc).
More typically it is put on top of the tv which nearly always puts it higher than the L/R.
My advise is don't worry about the height of the centre.

I agree, it is more important that the L/R/Centre are in the same plane rather than whether the centre is at a different height.

Left and right tweeters at ear height, for your two channel music, and if speakers are toed-in, then put centre on same radius from you. If L&R mains are firing directly ahead then have then centre on the same plane as mentioned. The centre height is not too critical, again as someone noted.
