Which do you prefer, and why? Do the grilles affect the sound qualtiy at all?

    Cheers,

    Dave.

anything in front of a speaker will affect it to some degree so grilles off unless you don't hear a difference or you've got kids or thick adults visiting or young inquisitive children of your own-tweeters especially are very easily damaged.

Or if your speakers are specifically designed to be run with the grilles on, as are my M&K 750's.

Although my speakers ( mission Volare ) look better with the grilles off, I tend to leave them on as I don't want to let the cones get a build up of dust on them.

Unless anyone knows a way to clean the cones without damaging them.

Grilles on for me I'm afraid  - the only concession I had to make for the missus to have all my kit in the lounge.

Play them really loud 24/7, thereby not giving the dust a static woofer surface to settle on. :D

Alternatively get the wife to Hoover & clean everyday so there is no dust in your listening-room.

Off for me........i'm convinced i get a better sound.I would be interested in any other Mission M74/74i owners, what they have to say.The grilles have a fairly thick ,mesh framework,Which i feel is a bit "heavy duty" .
The improvment without the grilles is very noticable, alot clearer and definately more open and detailed.....IMO!

Treble sounds more closed in with grills on (Mission M73) - perhaps not such a bad thing for other owners of M73's and bright amps? Off for me.
