Hi All, is there a general distance between rear surrounds and rear back. I guess also between centre and front R & L? My rears are about 100 inches driver to driver and same between centre and front L&R. I can't get my rear back speakers physically behind sofa, so have them toed into the listening position. Rear surrounds facing listening position directly.

Many thanks

Ideally you want depth of at least 1m or so behind the listening position if you want to place Surround Backs properly. I have mine so they're in the spaces between the FL/FR and Centre (if you had those in a line on the wall).

Personally, I'd stick with just Surrounds either to the side or on the rear wall if your seating position doesn't have space behind you.

I found this app on my Samsung s21 ultra. In camera go to ar zine app, Point it at an object & it tells you the distance & its very accurate. I pointed at both speakers from my listening position & there was less than 2 inches difference. Also detected the wife's height accurately. A bit of fun app but fairly useful.

The angle of the speakers relative to the listening position should dictate the distances between the speakers - although a minimum distance of 3 feet away from the listening position is recommended to avoid “proximity effects”.

This is what Dolby recommend:
