    Hi all,

I've had my new Plasma screen installed, and its lovely.
I've a Pioneer PDP505-XDE with the Pioneer PDP-S25 (I think - the air ones) speakers attached to it.

I'm now at the stage where I need bigger, better, sound.

I'm thinking about getting a Pioneer 868 DVD player. I'm not a techie when it comes to AV things, so honestly, my main reasons are a) its Pioneer so it matches the tele and b) its got HDMI, which also happens to match the tele! whoo hoo

I'm gonna need an Amp and a set of Speakers with it, but have no idea what I'm looking for.
For the speakers I've got my eye on the Mordaunt Short Premiere Plus system, I've read some good things about it and importantly, it totally matches my room. I've creamish carpet, a champagne coloured suite, beech and black marble fireplace (which matches the plasma like a dream!).
Thus, the Mordaunt Short Premiere Plus would look lovely in the room.

What Speakers and Amp would you recommend to go with a Pioneer PDP505XDE Plasma and a Pioneer 868 DVD Player?

Also, is it worth connecting the Pioneer S25 speakers to the amp too? Get some sort of home made 7.1 on the go!

Sounds like you love things to match aesthetically...in which case, why don't you have a look at Pioneer amps?
The 'budget' vsx-d814 has had good reviews, as has the vsa-ax10ai-S at the ther end of the scale.
What sort of budget for amp/speakers?

Ideally, < £2000 for DVD Player, Amp and Speakers.

Also, is there such a thing as good wireless speakers? I just hate setting up all the wires, would much rather not pull up the carpet...

Not really - but why does everyone get so hung up about lifting the edges of the carpet? All you have to do is peel it back a few inches, run the cables and plonk it back down.

If you're set on Pioneer a reasonable setup might be:

    Mordaunt Short premier plus £500
    Pioneer 868 £700
    Pioneer VSX-2014i-S £700

If it were my 2k, I'd be tempted by the Arcam AVR250, a decent midrange (£3 - 400ish) dvd...loads to choose from at this price...perhaps the Mordant Shorts, though again, loads around £500...and £100 left for a couple of decent cables.
