    Hi,

I have a loft "home cinema" setup and trying to decide whether I should use speaker cable that I installed in the wall before the plaster board went on or if I should use a separate external speaker cable that I would then need to run in some trunking along the floor. My main concern is quality, as the original installer didn't do a direct run of the speaker cable - he went up the wall and then back down. See picture below.

The pink speaker cable installed is QED QX16/4 LSZH Bi-Wire 4 Core Installation Speaker Cable, where I have doubled up each cable.

The other image shows the complete set-up showing the route of the installed cables (sorry for the unsteady hand) along with a temporary external cable that I am currently using, but may put in trunking instead.

My dilemma is that ideally I want a clean look with no wires or trunking, but don't want to pay for it in terms of quality due to the length of the speaker cable.

Do you have any opinions on wether there would be a perceived quality difference in the set-up ?

    Thanks in advance

Speaker cable - stick with what you have.

    Joe

PS I'd be less happy with the installed HDMI cable 'run' - you are never going to easily replace those cables should they fail or become obsolete!

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I did have this concern - went for reasonable quality cables that are high-speed certified and also ran two HDMI cables plus twin CAT6 ethernet. I'm hoping there is enough back-up there and worse case , I need to re-channel a cable (hopefully won't need to consider doing that for the next few years).

    Thanks

Don't sweat it, what you have seems more than sufficient (cat 6 cable is a nice touch) & ought to be suitably future proof.

Nice looking space you've ended up with, BTW.

Thanks very much, turned out quiet well I think. I'll post some more pictures on the build process on the other forum as soon as a get a few moments.

DO you mean in regards to the speaker cable too ?

    Thanks.

Yes, was referring to both, sorry if I wasn't clear in my post.

Always nice to see a build come together so thanks for sharing & enjoy the fruits of your labour
