Speaker cables

I'm upgrading my amp and some of my speakers so I thought it would be a good idea to do the cables at the same time.

The question is: how much should I pay per metre for the cable and where is the cheapest place to buy it?

With Scart cables it seems generally accepted that you should spend about £20 each to get a decent quality cable. Can the same be said for speaker cable? Is there a point where you can say you get the best value for money?

Thanks

You usaully get a lot of varied answers on this. The old "10%" rule comes in with all cables in your system should be about 10% of the value of the lot. This then asks the question How much are you going to spend? Its all oo your personal choice in the end though. Good luck in the searching.

different people reccomend different things
eg. KEF reccomend the cable should cost at least 5% of the speaker value per meter!
so for example the popular KHT2005 that's a minimum of £5 p/m
or for Monitor audio s5 that's £11.25
sounds about right to me.

Thanks guys, I'm using the Kef THX TDM Series which will make it rather expensive as I have a 7.1 system! I'll have a look around at the weekend and see what's available locally at about £5 per metre.

I think I'll need about 50 metres!!
