Speaker cables important?

I have just installed my AV61 system. I connected it using the already in place cable that came with my 36ZP48 surround speakers. Is there any point in me replacing this cable with the cable that came with my Yamaha? Or is it worth buying different cable? Front speakers are on a 6' length and rears are on 20' and 30' (this is due to routing round the room)
Any opinions?

hi,

i replaced my linn 400 speaker wires costing 10 per metre with ones from maplin costing 1.29 per metre- they sound the same. the mplin wire is good for long runs as i have them at 12-15 metres each.

also if u buy 100m from maplin they give u the roll for £65 intead of £129.

u need approx 70 strands of wire per cable--i.e thickness helps carry the signal better.

hope this helps
