I am about to invest in a PJ which will mean moving all the AV hardware to the back of my lounge. The existing speaker cable is not going to be long enough, so I will have to change this. I am thinking of QED bronze (at around £2.50 pm) as it is apparently good for long runs. Can anyone confirm? My lounge is about 22ft long, but the obvoius route for the cable will be (under the carpet) along the back wall, down the side and back along the front - a total of about 15m for the furthest speaker, so for L/C/R channels, 45m @ £1.50 = £112.50! I thought a cheaper option might be to use a router to cut a channel in the floor (only chipboard) which the wire could sit in and so go straight across the room, saving perhaps 6m per run (~£45). Has anyone done something similar or am I just being tight?
