How important is it to follow the direction arrows on speaker cable?

If you wire it with the arrow pointing in the opposite direction, will you notice a difference to the sound?

And why do they have a signal arrow on cable anyway?

I thought cable was cable, so why a direction indicator??

Sorry if im being thick.... err.... but Iam .....

Nothing like a speaker cable question to get everyone bitching...

Suffice to say, if the company that R&D'd the cable you spent money on decide that it's directional and print a direction arrow on the casing, why not just follow their advice?

Some say cables ARE directional (that is to say, sound better one way round than the other), others say it doesn't make the slightest difference.

You paid the money, you have ears, you decide.
