I am having my house re-wrired in a week or two, so while its in a state i wanted to get my HC speakers wired in at the same time...

When i was a bit younger i used the thick coper mains flex for my speaker cable, using this now would obvoiusly save quite a few quid over didicated speaker cable :)

You want see it because its sank into the wall so that not a problem, but what does it sound like, can you really tell much of a differance over decent cable?

    Cheers, Sean.

I doubt that there will be an audible difference and thus would chose the cheaper cable with the same (or greater) cross-section.
