    currently my setup consists of

    B&W 602 s2
    B&W CC6 centre
    eltax bipolar rears
    powered by an onkyo 876

    1st question

the centre is a real weak point and was after suggestions as to what would be an ideal replacment :D.
already i can hear people saying LCR600 however this speaker is way to big.

    2nd question

could really do with replacing the eltax with some thing a little more modern, iny ideas as to what ???

    any suggestions guys

Curious, have you tried just turning the center channel up? I'm under the impression that with most AV Amps you can control the level of the individual speakers.

As for a replacement, I think the latest B&W Center would be best.

As to the rears, you are set on more Di-pole/Bi-pole speakers, or are you interested in a more standard speaker?

there is supposed to be a world of difference with some of the more modern centre channels :D and yes i have turned it up

i would rather stick with bi or di pole rears as i like the effect :)

I too was after a centre to match with some 601 s2's. Asked B&W directly. They told me that the best match was the CC6 rather than the new 600 centres. They said it wouldn't be aligned tonally and aesthetically (due to the different finishes).

They then went on to say that maybe I should move the 601's to rears and go buy some 685's to go with the new centre....hmmmm. Cashing in perhaps?

My personal view is that the new 600's and the old 600's are not all that different...so maybe see if you can try the latest 600 centre.

What did I do? Moved the lot upstairs and invested in some XTZ 99.25's and XTZ centre. Have had B&W since '99 - so felt very guilty, disloyal and almost like I have cheated on them!

I wouldn't feel that you have cheated on them or been disloyal. Just buy what sound's good to you and suits your system. They are all the same looking at profit margins and their bottom line. Will concede however that some are different and keen to give the customer a good deal i.e. loss leaders for future custom. However, I could just be cynical.

    Just my personal thoughts.

Hope that reduces any unnecessary angst.

    Cheers.
