    Hi,

I need to buy a pair of front speakers for my brother but he has very specific requirements, they are:

    1. Floorstanders but not too big, smaller than say a Tannoy MX3.
    2. Within the £100 - 150 price range.
    3. Light wood coloured, preferably Beech.

Anyone know of any speakers that fit these requirements and still sound reasonably good.

    Cheers

But the M73 is about the same size as the MX3.

Depends how much smaller you want - the Wharfedale Diamond 8.3s are a touch shorter (about 2"), and are now available in beech (or whatever they call it). Not as deep either, although they are a bit wider.

That's really about as small as floorstanders get AFAIK - there are a few models which are smaller, but they either don't fit the budget or aren't available in beech.

The other option of course is a pair of decent standmounters and a pair of decent stands!

Thanks guys, I'll check those models out. I did suggest that he gets a pair of stand mount speakers, but he really likes the look of my MX4's
