Hi folks, I appologise if this is not the right place for this question, however, I am in the process of putting together a HC, driven from my PC, the motherboard has a line out jack socket ( 3.5mm) that can be configured to SPDIF.

My Denon amp has both optical and coax sockets on it ( strangely no 3.5mm sockets)

Is there a device or a box that will allow me to convert the 3.5mm output to either optical or coax and use the SPDIF ??

I know to you experts this will sound either straight forward or completely stupid but to me its a bit confusing !!

    Many thanks

    Andy

or you can get the same effect by using a 3.5mm to 2 phono lead and just using the left socket.

Although this will use the DACs in your sound card, which is fine if they are good. Using the spdif output should take the digital bitstream straight to your amp for conversion.

Worth thinking about. I'm going the spdif route as I suspect I'll get a better sound.

I have my Videologic Sonicfury hooked into my DAC. Simply no comparison, using an external DAC in my case sounds FAR better...
