Anyone know if this classic heston sci-fi is going to be released?
I think you are out of luck at present I have Just tried http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=index and nothing came back, the same for The Omega Man which I want.
first AA film I went to see.
That ages you mate
don't remind me
those were the days when you went to see double features!
If I remember correclty it was shown with either Rollerball or Demon Seed
I saw "The Car" & "The Day Of The Animals" as a double feature, a good many years ago.
They were both AA films!
At the Granada Welling. It's now a snooker club!
Count yourself lucky - our old ABC (later Canon) is now owned by the Jesus Army, and they won't even let me have one of the old prickly chairs for posterity the brain-bathing rotters.
Quite a lot of old (closed) cinemas round my way, are now owned by christian groups.
I would have thought they would make rather good opium dens, myself............
Soylent Green and The Omega Man are due for release on 05/08/03 on Region 1
The last remaining cinema in the London borough of Waltham Forest was bought up by the Universal Church for the Kingdom of God a while back. Rather a shame. It wasn't exactly state of the art in terms of sound and picture, but it was/is a very charming piece of Art Deco architecture.
hi all , they are bost great movies but talking of the omega man, has anybody seen the video widescreen and the laser pal version
theirs the same speack with the lad only in different places i think. Can anybody confirm this, its near the end on the laser it takes place on the roof on vid ,its in the room
its a lost classic of a movie to think it was a A cer at the time
Universal are moving into religion?
You probably knew this anyway but it's on TCM on 27th June at 23:20
I don't mourn it to greatly. I was close to walking out of it the last few times I went... so bad was the projection ( I thought my eyesight was wonky when I saw Outbreak there...turned out it was just such a dim picture) and sound quality and behaviour of the audience. They didn't do themselves many favours.
I remember one time me and the missus were the only people there one afternoon showing. After reminding them to turn down the house lights 5 mins into the film the local bag lady made her less than stealthy entrance , wandered around the cinema for a few minutes ( its a big old place) then proceeded to sit next to us in spite of the whole cinema being empty!
To add insult to injury she produced a McDs bag and starts munching away on a burger. Smell of burger and fries enshrouding us I told her to find somewhere else to sit. She moves off without a word. Ten minutes later after an extended wander around the cinema she walks out again.
It was one of those cinemas for people who don't like films very much!
cover art and details for Solyent Green (always fancied seeing it) and Omega Man....
wouldn't mind The Haunting and The Thing from Outer Space as well out of that collection
