Just trying to work out the general consensus on best way of sourcing US discs. I used to import a lot of US DVDs back in the day, and we were spoilt for choice on retailers. Current conundrum is Red Sparrow. Would like the US version as I believe that the UK one is cut. Amazon.com seem best, but comes in around £25 with the up front fees. Wow HD would have been good, but see they now charge VAT.

      Grateful for any advice.

Agreed, I have been using them a lot as well, however and it might be me, I have spotted they are now adding 20% VAT on any purchases. Is that just a new thing?

      Service has been good though.

[In the case of Red Sparrow] If you don't mind non-English text on the cover, the german version is also uncut^^

Thanks for the comments. I’ve taken the plunge and ordered from Amazon US. Went for Red Sparrow and Braveheart. Paid in US$ which was around $60 and that includes an import charge of around $10 which I may or may not get back. Pending transaction for £47 which seems within the bounds of being reasonable I guess.

I believe Deep Discounts is part of WOWHD which is why both would be charging the VAT.

I just did a 6 disc order from deep discount and got hammered for VAT (I was pretty positive it hadn't been there on my 3 previous orders) - fortunately I managed to find the 15% discount

Still worked out pretty expensive (some worked out at approx. £30 each) so Im pretty sure they have put their prices up as well

Given the fact it takes them 10 days to deliver (in itself isn't a problem) but with the seemingly higher prices as well is putting me off using them as much as I have previously.

all of the deepdiscount family (dvdplanet, deepsidcount, cd-wow, importcds) all now charge 20% VAT as they were apparently pushed to by HRMC who clocked their stuff coming in free of VAT. Makes Mario and occasionally Amazon the only ones worth using now, shame as DD was my No.1 choice with their regular 15% coupons, but now, its a no go.
Need to tighten my belt and watch some for once anyway, so a break from imports will be ok by me for now
