What cable do you think/know I need to go from my Creative Audigy 2 Digital Out to Dolby Digital Amp?

Hopefully this will deliver 5.1 !

    Thanks.

i dont know much about htpc but you will need a opitc cable have spdiff enabled on your soundcard and have it enabled on your hi-fi.

As for dts it works ok i had a problem with ac3 nobody on the forum would or could help so i bought a divx player for 40 quid. I think when you buy soundcards you are meant to look for ac3 pass thru. Like i said i know ****. Sorry if i'm talking rubbish.

I think you need a 3.5mm mini jack to phono connector.

What digital dolby amp do you have?

I would guess it either takes optical spiff or digital coaxial.

You definately want to use either of these two and not a 3.5mm jack to phono as the quality will be better.

    Yes thanks.

My amp does take optical spiff or digital coaxial but my digital output on my soundcard is a small 3.5mm socket like the other speaker connections. So what do I buy ?

    Thanks again for the replies.

Oh right my creative 5.1 card has an add on module that gives it a optical output.

Can you get one for your Audigy?

Yep as I said earlier you need a 3.5mm to phono lead. Try Maplins or somewhere like that.

You may be right though the audigy cards seem to be problematic to say the least ! I have done some research here. The recommendation is 3.5mm (mono) to coaxial. Plus some software settings to enable a true digital output to amp. For the full low down here ...

    Thanks for your help guys.

Also I take it RCA/Phono and coaxial cable are the same thing or at least doing the same job ?
