Have been reading some reviews of DVD players recently. It occurs to me that the video side of DVD has steadily progressed with higher bit rates and Pal Prog Scan for example, but what about the sound?

Take the Tosh SD900e for example. It is now a few years old and therefore its technology is a few years old as well. Does it still produce as good a sound in DD and DTS as say a Pioneer 757 or Denon 3800, both fairly new offerings.

This doesn't seem to be discussed much in the magazines so I assume the quality of digital sound has stood still?

Be interested in any views :)

IMHO laserdisc still sounds better than DVD.
