I have an old Yamaha RX-V2700 which has served me well over the past eleven years or so. It still sounds good, but of course it's not quite up to date. The biggest problem for me is that it only has 3 HDMI inputs (and they obviously don't support 4K, HDR, etc.).

How does my old receiver compare with a new one, sound wise? Or more specifically: If I buy a new receiver, approximately how much would I have to spend to get a sound quality that's on par with the RX-V2700? A 7.2 receiver would be enough for me.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like this was a £1300-odd receiver ten years ago, so you’d need to spend at least that to equal it. I’d look at the Yamaha RX-A2070 or 3070 to replace it.

Thank you, that's the kind of info I'm looking for!

And since I love my current Yamaha receiver I'll most certainly buy Yamaha again... so I'll read up on the 2070/3070 and keep my eyes open for any good deals on them.

Richer Sounds are currently doing them for a great price!
