    Hi,

I am planning on purchasing the Canton CD1s, but am moving from a semi into an 'apartment' (flat! ;) )! The flat is on the top floor so don't have to worry about anyone above me and the people either side will probably :suicide: themselves!

Is there anything that can be done to reduce the bass going through the floor (and walls if poss) that does not detract from the sound in the room itself?

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for the link, some useful info. I think making my own is going to be the best cost effective solution. I think it is just a case of sandwiching some accoustic insulation and MDF together and then finishing it off asthetically to suit personal taste.

If anyone has any links to specific DIY instructions for building such things that would be great.

    Cheers,

    Mark.

    Hi,

I think the key, having searched the net, is that the platform should contain several layers and be filled with sound proofing. I am going to build a platform that is made-up of the following layers -

    Carpet
    Accoustic insulation tile
    MDF
    Sand filling
    MDF
    Accoustic insulation tile
    Carpet

I will then mount the board on either adjustable spikes/feet or split tennis or squash balls.

    What do people think?

    Cheers,

    Mark.
