Currently soundproofing a studio, and have installed resilient bars & clips, now have 2 layers of plasterboard and a dense sound matting material to go in between the two.

My question is really about fastening.

1. How best to fasten the soundproof matting to the first layer of plasterboard (does Green Glue for instance have the adhesive properties to hold the matting or should we be using a proper solvent-based glue?

2. If we then use screws to fasten the second layer of plasterboard to the matting / first layer, is that not creating a weakness?

Hoping someone out there might have the expertise / experience to answer these points!

AFAIK green glue does not act as an adhesive...and when using plasterboard screws, these create a self seal so shouldn't be detrimental to the soundproofing effect
