sound blaster live 5.1 live drive...

    Does anyone have a sound blaster live 5.1 digital live drive that they want to sell cus i am fed up of playing games on my pc linked to my amp via a 3.5mm to 2 phono cable???

    Hi darth_sidious,

    Does your soundblaster live have the add-on daughterboard that connects to the main soundcard with an IDE type ribbon cable?

    That carries digital spdif in and spdif out. If you haven't got that you could try ebay.

    Personally, I'd be tempted to buy a new card for about 25-30 quid thathas a digital output. If you buy a new Creative 5.1 Digital for £25 you can use your existing 3.5mm to phono as the digital output for your amp.

    A really cheap card offering optical output is the trust sound expert - can't remember the exact model name but you pay about 30 for one. The only downside is that you can't use this Trust board under Linux, should you decide to move away from windows.
