Hi
I am thinking of getting a tosh 220e and use RGB out to my Philips TV

Now would this carry sound as well to the TV???

And how is the quality of RGB output from the Tosh?

As long as you buy a fully wired Scart Cable, and not the RGB only version from QED, then YES you will get sound as well.

I don't have this machine so cannot really comment but many other members do have it and I haven't came across any posts regrading poor RGB quality.

worry not. rgb output from my new 220SE Tosh, even to my aged (21 inch 50Hz 4:3 Sony Tinitron) tv is just dandy. I have not yet tried to take advantage of the component out, but reputably that's even better.

Does anyone recomment purchase of a component to RGB Scart lead?

Component and RGB are two different formats so you cannot just link a Component Source to an RGB input without a conversion in between. For this you would need some kind of transcoder or Component to RGB box. Definately not worth it on your set-up.

I have a Philips 32pw9525 w/s 100htz tv and the
picture quality from the Tosh 220 using the RGB
output is excellent but I do suffer moire when playing
some Region 1 ntsc discs. That is a tv problem though
but it would have been nice of Toshiba to include a
quasi-pal or a pal 60 setting on the 220 to rectify this.
