Sorting thousands of music files - not iTunes!

I have recently inherited a hard drive with thousands of music tracks, everything from the 50's to today, across many different genre.

I am not a fan of iTunes for various reasons and I wonder if there is a really good piece of software for osx that will basically rearrange the library, look into all the folders and make sense of what I have, sorting it into genres, etc. Mediamonkey has been suggested, any one know of any others?
