Hi all,

I have a toshiba satellite m50-130 laptop which is about 2 1/2years old.
the spec is as per the link but it has 1GB Ram

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe....rvice=UK&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&PRODUCT_ID=106418

It has the following problems:

The headphone jack is broken- i do have a cheap usb adaptor but this is a bit of a pain and not very good.

The battery only lasts 15 mins

it has suddenly started running very very slow- the only new software is AVG 8.

my questions are:

I was thinking of doing the following:

upgrading to 2gb of ram from here

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SAMSUNG-2GB-D...ryZ80202QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

any thoughts on that?

I was then going to Ghost the laptop to remove any nasties and then either try to re solder a new headphone jack or buy a decent usb sound card. And finally buy a new battery.

bearing in mind the age of the machine and the costs involved ( £50 ram, £30 sound card, £50 battery) do you think it would be better to wait a while and buy a new laptop?

If so any advice on what to look for?

I need a 14.1 with a dedicated graphics card - it will be used mainly for business and occasional powerpoint.

I was thinking of the DEll Vostro anybody with any thoughts

sorry for asking so much

thanks

Thanks for that

I did wonder if that was the cause.

I will remove it and see if that improves things- Might well ghost it and start afresh
