Film left me cold, not caring about the characters as they're pretty thinly fleshed out but pretty much in awe of the amazing film making and effects work. The bridge sequence alone is so real, so visceral. It's a triumph of filmmaking with a slightly anaemic script holding it back, imho. Will still pick this up when cheap as the real thrill comes in showing people how much was achieved in a film they've never heard of and how tense a film can be.
However, as a result of the promise this film had for me, the wages of fear remaster is on my Christmas list. Ive not seen that yet.

Nor me until recently! Hilarious title. There is definitely no magic or wizard stuff in this. It would never get made today...

...so this is only a paltry 17.99 Mbps on a BD-25 disc like the US release?...

Must admit the title took me by surprise. Usually when reading a review I'm aware of the film or it may spark a distant memories of catching at least a bit on tv way back when.

Blind sided by this one though.

You’re not alone, I’m not aware of this film. Likely to pick it up now though, after a price drop. I usually have recollection or knowledge for all of the films reviewed on the forum, this is a first for me!

I love this film and in my opinion it is Friedkin's finest.

Not that I don't love The French Connection or The Exorcist, but to me this is on a different level.

Being a massive Friedkin fan, this was a revelation of a film. Not sure I'll be double dipping on this release as the US digibook is beautiful. Can we please get Cruising now? Friedkin oversaw a 2K remastering for DVD with some fresh colour timing and provided a commentary. The blu-ray could come with different coloured hankie packaging.

..and without the colour changes when Pacino sniffs the hankie.

Strange people who expect to empathise with characters in films may not get on with this one...[emoji6] Ive never had that problem.

Listening to my other reviewer Mark Kermode (sorry Caz, your not my only source :() he said the exact same thing. It got killed being released with Star Wars and never got to even a significant cult status or at least never really mentioned when someone was talking about Fredkin.

Saw this so long ago, I think it's time I revisited this.

Wow! Never expected to see this again. Worth it if only for Tangerine Dream's soundtrack. Right up there alongside Thief with James Caan. Now if only they'd remaster that film!
A lot of people seem to forget about To Live and Die in L.A, another Friedkin Classic.
Sorcerer adds a whole new meaning to my cars got nitro in it :rotfl:

Buy it - you wont be sorry! I bought it blind (unusual for me) and loved it. My brother was new to the film and he loved it too.

It's great. When I first got the US blu my other half watched it with me. She loved it and said she'd never seen anything like it.

She also loved Heaven's Gate when I introduced her to that.

No, it's a BD-50 and looks lovely. Grainy, grainy, grainy grainz!
Appears to be based on the French release, not that crap US disc.
