Have you tried switching it off from the front panel and then switching it back on again, whilst holding the +/- keys depressed? This used to work on the KL37/50W series and other Sony's. When it powers up you get the letters TT on the screen. Enter 01, I think, to bring up the service menu.

This is indeed the way to access the service menu.

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how I get on.

We have a client who got one of the first in UK from another dealer. We are just completeing his new cinema room and I am going to have a look at getting a better picture from it.

First thing is to see what adjustments are available, particularily with regard to cut offs and gains for Greyscale adjustment.

Another thing Gordon - after the TT comes up on the screen you might want to try and press the menu button on the remote (if it has one).

On my KV32FD1 it brings up a more user friendly menu system for the service codes. Much better than keying in all the numbers and fooling about to see what each one does.
