Probably the best phones on the market will be announced on 4th July and 25th June and no one is even talking about them?

This forum needs to forget the ugly plastic Samsung S series. Unless you are an Apple fanboy then these two devices should have been on your radar.

Z Ultra (Phablet) will be a Samsung Note beating device and the i1 is set to be what the Z should have been upon release.

So the details have just come out on the the Z Ultra :

    • 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800
    • 4G LTE
    • weighs in at 212 grams
    • 6.5mm uniform thickness
    • 6.4-inch display that runs at 1080p resolution
    • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)
    • 8-megapixel Exmor RS sensor (capable of HDR video and stills)
    • front-facing 2-megapixel camera
    • 3,000mAh non-removable battery
    • 16GB built in storage expandable by micro SD

Looks quite interesting, on my Autumn list to try anyhow!

The new smartwatch looks pretty good too :

A lot of us were let down by the Xperia Z which promised so much, but but easily surpassed by the competition, including the ugly plastic models. 6.4" is just a little shy of the size of the Nexus 7 and I'm not sure I'll want something that big, but the rumoured T6 will trump this IMO

Tried one in Dubia a few days ago and it's on the top of my list for new mobile.

A very impressive phone by any definition, feels and oozes quality, thin, stylish, extremely snappy and quick, the best screen I have seen on a phone, its the best phone ever released thus far.

Just waiting to see what the Note 3 will bring and whether that will knock this off the top of my list come upgrade time in September.

    Very impressive phone.

Glad to hear about the quality.

I will be getting the Ultra as well when it hits in Sept. Will also go for 4g with free Sky Sports (Vodafone) and really make use of the screen when out and about.

The Note 3 will be typical Samsung... good specs but ugly round plastic design.

That's exactly it. My experience of the Note is not good, as both the Note 1 and 2 felt cheap, whereas the Ultra feels like a £600/£700 phone. The screen and materials are very much premium and the phone itself stands out. I was just walking past the shop when the phone just caught my attention, even though it was at the back of the shop.

Only disappointed that its got a 8mp camera and not even the same 13mp one used in the Z.

I really want this phone too. Cannot seem to see if O2 will be carrying this. Does anyone know?

O2 are now showing this as coming very soon. I know it has no flash, but TBH I very rarely use a camera on a phone.

In case you didnt know it will be released on 12th September.

Note 3 will be announced on 4th September, Iphone 5s and 5c (cheaper plastic iphone) will be announced on 10th September.

Sony Z1 (Honami) will also be announced on 4th Sept.

Therefore plenty of time to decide before committing to a handset.

The Z1 and Ultra Z both look like superb phones. Cant see how Samsung can beat them as a product overall given their history of design and materials used.

Iphone screen will be too small to even consider for those interested in the Sony/Note 3.

Looks like both Sonys will be winners.

I agree it's prudent to wait, you can never tell how you may be influenced once you see or hold the various devices.

I'm due an upgrade on 6th Sept. Any guesses on the handset cost of a Z1 on the one plan?

It is simply the next flagship from Sony. It shouldnt sell more than the current iphone 5.

I would say free to £30 on a 24m contract

"According to an alleged photo of Three UK's inventory the Galaxy Note 3 will be available from the network on September 16, while the new flagship Sony Z1 device will come a little more than a week later on the 24th."

Liking the look of the Z1 - even better that it provides a camera shutter button on an Android device! :smashin:

EE are reported to be offering a free Smartwatch 2 with all Z1 preorders.

Might be a Sony wide promotion like their headphones with the Z 6 months ago.

It's now official. Can't help but think it's an admission from Sony that they got the Z wrong.

Agree with Rizza, what the Z should have been. Just wish they could have shaved a little more off the bezels.

Yep agree. The Z always felt like the prototype. It is why the Z1 has been released only 6 months after the Z. Just now depends o what the Note 3 brings to the table.

It certainly looks special and should attract some sales, but I just wonder if it's come a bit too late as the HTC One and S4 have probably mopped up most demand for 5" Android flagships until the next gen handsets are released/announced early next year. The Note 3 and iPhone still succeed releases at this time of the year because they offer something different from the the mainstream Android phones.

Depending on Apples showing, I think this will be the device to bring me back to Android. Cracking looking device with great specs and feature set. My only concern is screen size. Being used to my iPhone 4S, I wonder if the Z1 will feel too big.
