@ben
appreciate the trouble you went to to give us the info..
indeed no lag and no blur make this a very good budget TV...
one thing that i want to know since you were seeing the W6/8 & 9 at the same time:
How does the W6 compare to the 8 and 9 in terms of motion and overall image to the others ???
W6 and W7 are comparable to each other, to my eyes they differed only in the design and the W7 having one touch mirroring tech.
Both had a little bit of motion blur and as I stress again, they're really only noticeable if you're being anal about it.
Fortunately, they didn't have any ringing on the images on fast-motion sequences which IMO is good since smooth motion technologies tend to not have any anti-ringing filters intergrated properly.
2D image quality wise, the W6, W7 and W8 all looked pretty similar. The W8 had the benefit of slightly deeper contrast and doesn't crush shadows as much as the W6/W7. But the W8 having a glossier screen kinda put me off.
Motion blur in comparison is similar on the same "Smooth" settings.
The W8 does have the benefit to turn off motionflow entirely, so that's an advantage there for certain games (fighting games mostly).
I didn't test 3D though, so couldn't comment on this one.
As for the W9, it has the best color accuracy out of all the series. I personally adjusted the color settings to my own standard so that it wasn't biased to any sort of settings that was set by the employees.
I know some people were complaining about pilaring on the W9, but I honestly do not notice it unless in a full white screen. Even then, it is quite subtle. Not an issue IMO.
On the "Smooth" motionflow setting, the W9 has very slightly lesser motion blur than the W6, W7 and W8. I'm saying so slight that this may be a placebo effect.
Like the W8 though, having the ability to set motionflow settings is an advantage.
The take away for the W9 is that it looks a lot livelier than the lower models. It's a great looking TV no doubt.
is it possible that the motionflow settings are locked to the picture setting you choose eg cinema, sports, game, etc each picture setting could have motionflow at a different setting eg smooth, clear, off, etc.somebody would have to test this with a game to see if the amout of motion blur changes on a different picture setting.
Perhaps, because I was asking them if theres any region difference (W653 UK, W654 US, W675 SEA) between the W6 models or not. They weren't sure either and could just say "perhaps some difference in the settings, but other than that, it's the same".
But from what I've seen on the W674, other than in Game-Original mode, all other "scenes" setting on the W6 has "Smooth" motionflow enabled as a default.
