Whats the cheapest youve seen the Sony VW12HT go for?
And have you seen any online retailers selling it?

What about getting one from price japan. Many people on these forums seem to be having very good experiences with them. Their price is $4,332 which I calculate to total about £3,250 (£1=$1.60 ex rate and 20% customs charges) Not bad!

I too am considering the VW12 and am also looking for the best prices. Can we both keep the thread updated as to what we find.

    Thanks.

I'll be ordering one from PJapan after new year celebs.
They're definately the most competetive so far.
AFAIK 17.5% Vat is payable but the projector is exempt from import duty.
'Admin' fees may be payable to the likes of DHL but I don't know how much these are.
    Anyone care to enlighten us?

hey, maybe price japan can do you a favor.

Hifiviz did for me when I bought my DVD player price was around 600 us dollars, I asked them to put 205 us on the box and stated it was a gift.

the limit for a gift is £145 uk pounds, so this fell under this.

not tax or vat, Ive had it 4 months,DHL on the shipping address, and yes on the customs it was ticked gift.

it was order in my partners name and my card paying, same address.

    tax free....
    ;)

yes let me know how you get on,w of many this should fine.

they fill the part out for the shipping slip.

also most dealers will mail the bill out in the post, if they were to look inside they would not find a bill.

I know of many people who have user the GIFT trick and it has worked for all of them,as it did for me.

most dealers will do this no probs, it a sale after all.

    hi again
i think all this has been covered in another thread . the manual is in english its a uni one . as is the voltage all you have to do is buy a pc lead for the mains which is dirt cheap. plug it in and away you go,their is shipping to pay their and back,if faulty. as i stated i recived it in three days , if i order a dvd disc in this country i may just get it in that time. but i did hear they are thinking of doing insurance to cover returns , i read that on this forum . you pays your price, you takes your chance. at the saving i thought it was worth it as for dead pixals at three and a quarter million and at ten to fourteen feet away i think you need a pair of binocs to spot it, dont knock sony its a very fair pj, for out of the box set up
    all the best
    si

    Try Robert Whyte in Glasgow.

Just up the road from where I live, established for ages, nice showroom, knowledgeable staff. Not bought anything there yet, but came very close a year ago! Going there for my HS10 as soon as I've survived the New Year bills!

12HT price not on their site yet, but they've been doing the 11HT for 3999 including VAT for the last 12 months or so. May be worth giving them a bell.

Check out their projector price page.

I saw the 12ht and the HS10 together and didnt think there was a huge difference between the two? the 12ht had a bit better blacks, but it had been setup and running for 6 months and obviously tricked up right whereas the hs10 was plonked on the table. The 12ht didnt seem quite as bright either.

But I bt now I have played with my hs10 and put 200 hours on the clock it would be very similar to the 12ht

Can anyone else comment on this? Both seem to be decent for their respective prices (and I'm considering both) - but given the difference in prices, I find this observation odd.

This must have been a BETA version, if its been up for 6 months, they have only been in jap, for around this long??????

they are not in the same class, it is not always the case that you pay for what you get, but in this case it is

well I dont know about how long the 12ht has been around, it wasnt in my price range so I didnt go into it. The HS10 has been available here since last november quite easily and it seems most places in the UK still dont have a demo unit.

The one thing I will say for the 12ht is it seemed allot more robust, with its light metal like casing compared to the hs10's plasticy feel.

All I can say is, go see them for yourself. its your money and you have to buy a unit you like, it doesnt matter what the guy next door or on this forum thinks, if your happy with the picture thats all that matters.

 My HS10 and 1251QM stuff

then again, Ive only had 2 LCD's and 4 CRT's so what would I know

    Wow,
Thanks - best price I have seen so far !
I wonder if this price reduction is because of a replacement soon (as rumoured in the US)?
