Sony vs LG

Evening all,

Looking for a new TV around £1k is a minefeild - or at least I've found it to be. I've been having a good look about, reading reviews on here, What Hi-Fi etc and (with the Sony VAT back offer firmly in my mind) have narrowed things down to:

Sony KDL-46EX503 and the LG 47LE8900

But which should I get? (or does someone have a better suggestion?)
Most importantly it must make my standard def Sky look good and as I watch loads of films that is the priority in terms of how it will be used.

I shall pair it up with either the Sony BPD-S370 or BDP-S570 I think...

So what do you think? Sony or LG or have I foolishly missed something that's a similar size/price? Thanks in advance!

Both have good reviews, but the Sony can be had for about £722 after vat back with a 5 year warranty, whilst the LG is £1200+ with a 5 year warranty! They maybe a similar size, but about £500 difference in price. Not unless you know somewhere thats selling the LG a lot cheaper.
