    Hello

My lamp has reached 3/4 of its life in my 11HT so I'm thinking of replacing it with the HS50, has anyone made the change should I expect a better or worse picture overall?

    thanks for any comments

    I went from VW11 to HS20 to HS50.

The HS50 is miles better than your VW11. Not as bright, but contrast and black level is in another league altogether.

Thanks for the reply, how would you rate the quality of the picture ie detail as opposed to colour?

    thanks

Colours are more natural on the HS50.
The VW11 has slightly higher resolution LCD panels, so screendoor is a little more visible on the HS50 and the VW11 looks a tad cleaner.

Don't dwell on that though, as the the HS50's contrast and black level is loads better. In my opinion, contrast and black level is far more important.

Anyway the 1280 x 720 panel on the HS50 is a perfect match for HiDef material which won't require scaling. So HiDef material will look cleaner on the HS50.

Other things that were important to me are:

    1) Fan noise..... the VW11 sounds like its about to take off!, whereas the HS50 is exceptionally quiet. (30db v 24db)

    2) The HS50 has an HDMI input which will be needed for most future HiDef material. The VW11 does not.

    3) Lamps for the VW11 are about £450 as opposed to around £300 on the HS50!
