      Here's a question.

Does price and competition come into consideration when you're awarding the badges or is it purely on performance? Reading the review, the competition seems to have the lead in almost every area (namely the JVC and Epson) especially using price as a factor.

Just curious as the review didn't read particularly positively going through it and going by the results, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I do own now Sony VPL-VW760ES and its a propert machine, apart from that machine I wouldn't choose any other Sony model only VW5000ES, the rest choice will goes towards JVC X9900 as its better in any other aspects. But VPL-VW760ES wins in a lot sectors, apart from absolute contrast and black levels, but they are better in some areas than Z1 from JVC :)

AHHH !!! you sure about that??? I came from an X9500 to the Z1 and trust me the "real world" contrast difference is not noticeable on all but a few examples, every other aspect the Z1 destroys the X9500.
So the 760 would want to be 'Exceptionally" good for your above statement to qualify..

Thank you for the excellent review.Having reviewed the 260(which lacks the dynamic iris) would you say the 360 has a major improvement in black levels? Also you refer to normal viewing distances regarding real and faux 4K projectors. At present I view my Panasonic Ae5000 on a 108 " diagonal screen from 10 feet away.At this distance is it likely I would see the difference between the Sony or the JVC?
      Many thanks

Wow, your projector cost 175 times more than mine.

I wonder if it looks 175 times better?

      Probably. :)

And it is good, you've seen it yourself from the posts by ARROW main distributor ;) In some aspects it is better than Z1, especially cost :)

We have asked Sony and they were trying to get one for us. However given that we are heading for the festive period and then CES, it'll be late January onwards now.

Timing of review, not that critical for me as probably won't progress purchase until Feb 18 now. Would be really interested in potential support of Dolby vision on this ((vw760) or other mid to high end projector as tend to purchase for a 5 year period.
With growth of dolby vision in recent months would be interesting to see if there is some adoption in projectors, perhaps showcased at CES. Since visiting a Dolby cinema in NY last year, keen to get close to this at home.

      Comments appreciated

      Thanks for the review.

"... We certainly found that at times the Sony really struggled to elevate itself above the much cheaper but similarly specified JVC DLA-X7900 we had in for review at the same time.... "

The price of those two (360 and x7900) is rather similar. Or am I missing something?

      Thanks!

A quick google shows multiple shops selling the Sony VPL-VW360ES @ RRP £6999
the same search on the JVC X7900 - @ around £5700 so a fair difference in price.
