    wow wee. I know the contrast ratio is likely to be exaggerated, but even if it is half of that (3000:1) it would be immense. :devil:

    lcd is making a comeback big time. if that contrast ratio is just 1/3 of the spec it would be amazing. just hope it isnt to exspensive but that is just unbelievable 6000:1 CR to make a claim like that the contrast must be very special.

    Yeah, there are some big numbers being bandied about for LCD contrast. Epson are apparently claiming 9,000:1 (yes 9,000:1!) for "Contrast Enhanced" examples of their new D5 panels (PJs with this not out before spring 2005).

    Espon & Sony are apparently achieving this with iris modulation or something like that. Effectively this reduces the output (a bit like lamp modulation), depending on the overall brightness balance in the picture, allowing dark scenes to be truly dark.

    What remains to be seen is what the viewers percieved contrast in mixed light/Dark scenes is. I'd expect the ANSI C:Rs (measures the contrast within a single image using a checketboard pattern) to be somewhat less spectacular.

    Do you think it will be shown at CEDIA?

    I think it's likelly since there's rumors that HS20 have been discontinued....
