I purchased this because I read that files no longer needed to be converted to the atrac format before transferring. So I downloaded the firmware updates and software updates and with sonicstage and vaio music transfer the files still appear as OMA(Atrac?) format. Am I missing something blindingly obvious here? How does everyone transfer their files and what file type are they once they are on the player?

    My firmware version is 3.0.0.C171F
I have tried sonic stage 2.3 and 3 and ive used vaio music transfer 1.2.

Any thoughts or ideas very much appreciated.

the mp3s are not converted to atrac ....hence the transfer via sonicstage is now very quick. But the files are DRM protected hence the change in name/extension and the reason you cannot drag mp3s to the player via windows explorer.

    Cheers
