    hi

i have £2000 to spend on a new HDTV mainly to be used
with the x360/ps3/hd-dvd/blu-ray/standard sky and probably
pc gaming eventually its been extremely difficult trying to find
the right tv but ive finally decided to go for a 40" sony lcd
so the question is which one.

as im spending a lot of money i want the very best PQ
also as im quite a heavy gamer i would prefer to get a
1080p set now i know that 1080p content is extremely limited
right now but as most ps3 games will support 1080p and x360
will probably support 1080p eventually i think it would be
quite foolish to spend a fortune on a new tv that doesn't
support 1080p i think its just better to be safe rather than sorry.

now for which one to buy im not to keen on the sony 40w2000
because of all the troubles this model is having with
backlight bleeding + a few owners have just started to notice
motion problems the sony 40v2500 is a possibility however it
doesn't support 1080p that just leaves the sony 40x2000
which is sony's flagship model and as its sony's most expensive
model PQ should be the best also after reading reviews and
comments from owners it appears that the sony x series
is the most reliable out of all of sony's lcd's which is important
so at the moment the sony kdl-40x2000 is my number one choice.

if anyone has any advice on which sony 40" lcd i should buy
i would really appreciate it also any other surgestions
    would be welcome.

    Thankyou

    Hi Bud

I just bought the 40inch X series and love it. I got it for £2000 with a 5yr from my local sony centre after some tough bargaining with the manager.

I have not tried the W series but the was little picture difference with the X on HD feeds when demoed to me in the store. I got the X because of the better reviews and cleaner design.

I run it with a Denon 1930 dvd upscaler (1080P) ... it's just amazing and I would reccomend it to you thoroughly!!

Go for the X series ... Happy New Year !!

simple answer if you can afford it and like the looks of the x then its the x! if not the w! nothing else should even come in the picture!

i have the W, and its kick ass! was gona buy the x but couldnt stretch the extra £500 at the time!

From what I've seen so far, no other model is going to be better, at least not significantly.
Remember all LCDs still have some motion issues.

I have the 40W mate and the picture is truely excellent. Also don't be put of by motion blur backlight bleed as it really is not a issue for me or many others. This was my first LCD purchase and to be honest after reading some posts on here it can really put you off a model. A lot of people on here seem desperate to look for problems when they get a new tv instead of just enjoying it. I now have SkyHD but i was using normal Sky+ through scart and the difference in picture quality over my crt was instant. :smashin:
