    Everyone.

I'm looking for a large screen but with decent picture quality. I have the option of the 50WH18 from Tosh, although they've got a 57" version of the same unit coming out in Germany soon and it's quite plausible for me to buy it given i'm in Switzerland.

My local specialist recommended the Sony KP-51PS2, the larger version of the 44PS2 UK model. It's got DRC and should provide a better picture than the Tosh but I wanted honest opinions from customers.

Usage will be split 60/40 between TV/DVD although the living area is quite large hence the need for a big screen. Plasma isn't an option, and a projector/screen no use to me.

My past set was the 32" Sony Wega - and I loved the quality of the picture.

    Opinions/advice ??

Me , I'm a Tosh fan, better value for money!!

As for Sony, they are not what they used to be so please don't be swayed by their old reputation. I will never buy Sony again but IMHO a well set up Tosh does knock the pants of other RP's.

    Regards

You cant compare the Sony with the Toshiba.

The picture quality on the Toshiba is superior to the Sony.

    Toshiba plays in another league.

I've owned a 50wh18b for about 3 months now and am delighted with it. Picture quality is absolutely superb. You'll think you're watching a CRT set. Good signal in = great picture. Any TV is only as good as the signal in so make sure you sort digital/cable rather than analogue. DVD is out of this world.

It's worth using the service menu to set up convergence on 64 point grid. See this forum for details on how to access (gedclink posted).

If Sony set is better, I'm not sure how cos I doubt that the Tosh can be beaten for picture quality, especially given the price.

Only compared the sony and the tosh side by side yesterday and the tosh was noticably better. Go for the 50 inch and still have change.

I don't think there is any manufacturer who can compare to TOSHIBA when it comes to RP TVs.
