Sony upscaling?

Like everyone else I have a pretty hefty collection of DVDs, and now that I have a Sony 32v4000 I want something to get the most out of them, so its time for a new player. I am limiting myself to Sony for the sake of using a single controller, and was wondering if there was any difference in upscaling quality between Sonys budget models;

Blu Ray -
SONY BDPS350 BLU-RAY/DVD PLAYER (MULTI-REGION FOR DVD) - available from Superfi UK Visit for details

Standard DVD -
SONY DVPNS708H DVD PLAYER (MULTI-REGION) - available from Superfi UK Visit for details

Or on the other hand, is the upscaling done by the TV itself on a par, and I'm wasting my time?

Whilst I want a Blu Ray player in the long run, if the cheaper DVD player does a better job of dealing with normal DVDs then thats all I'm worried about.
