When ordering the mount do I need 3 piece or 2?

do I need the drop down pole of just the Ceiling mound and projector carriage

When you say Sony, Do you mean the VW10/11?

You need to measure how much of a drop you need from the ceiling to the top of your screen. I have a low ceiling so the universal bracket was fine.
