Do all Sony TVs have the 2 wires holding up a shadow mask
    on the CRT ?

Thinking back a few years so i maybe out of date

If they do i'm sure i'll spot them after a day or two so
would have to put them of my shopping list

    Any input welcomed

I think so but I haven't noticed them on a tv. (Although I could always see them on a monitor). Best thing is to go into a store and check it for yourself.

    point taken

its difficult to spot things though in a shop with just a min or two to look - you often spot them after a week at home
then spend 6 months "discussing" these "features" with
    the shop !

On the Sony monitors they were easily visible on any light colours about 1/3 and 2/3rds of the way down the screen.

I have lived with Sony TVs for about 10 years and never noticed this.

As has been said, they're a "trademark" of Trinitron tubes. I think they are less noticeable than they used to be though.

I have to say, I've used Sony monitors at work for donkeys years and have a Sony TV at home - I noticed them on my first Sony monitor, but have not noticed them on any Trinitron tube ever since. My eyesight is usually great for picking up subtleties in images, but my monitors at work are usually quite dirty as I can never be bothered to clean them :D

Don't forget, it will also depend how far away you will be sitting from the TV.

I only ever noitced them on my tv once and that was when i was sat very close to the tv and Monsters Inc was playing (speaks volumes of the M.I. transfer).
