I have a Sony 1271QM Projector with very low hours (it reads 272 Hours - I know that Sony's can have their counters reset but the tube faces are as white as a piece of paper).

I while back I had problems with coolant leaking out of one of the tubes. I make several attempts to seal/refill it but this has failed. :(

Unfortunately Sony only do the tubes as a whole unit so the tube is scrap despite the fact that it is in excellent condition.

Does anyone know where I can either get a *very* low hour tube (I don't want to spoil the projector with a tube which is more worn than the other two) or where I can source a brand new one? Or if I can send my existing tube off for repair? The tube is a Sony 07MP (G).

    Cheers

    Gag Halfrunt

P.S. I'm now watching a knackered 21" TV which has an orange picture

I'm following several avenues at the moment.

What condition is the tube? I don't want to degrade the performance of the whole projector by putting a tube in with burn.

Many thanks, your help is appreciated.

P.S. On top of all this one of the fans has packed up (right one on top looking from the lenses).

I took a pile of fans out of one of my Sony's. If you tell me the spec and size of it I may have a spare I can send you.

In cheesy AOL voice "You Have Mail!"

    Gordon

The details of the fan are:
    Matsu****a
    SF80 Fan Motor
    TSF83381001
    12V DC 160mA
    5019A

The funniest part is this is the only fan in the projector of this make. All the rest of the fans are made by Sprofan.

P.S. Hey the profanity filter has kicked in. The missing letters are s-h-i-t - ie. the company that owns Panasonic. :)

If you buy the tube I'll throw in the rest of the chasis (fans and all). I just don't have any more space for projectors so it had to go.

As regards installing the replacement tube I have no problems installing it, setting the astig & focus but will the white balance/greyscale be a problem?

Am I right in saying that you need a colour meter to set these things?
