sony strdb1080 & sacd setup

    Just got my first sacd disc so hooked up the 6 phono outputs on the dvd player to the amps 6 phono inputs now when i switch over it only plays in stereo also the amp has a set of 2 inputs marked as sacd\cd but i thought i needed the 6 inputs.
    Any help

    You need to connect to the 5.1 input using your six leads ,then select sacd\cd and then press the multi channel direct button on the front of the amp, that should work for sacd as well as dvd audio.

    Thanks for the reply but thats what i have got set up
    One question does the dvd player need to be sacd compatible (i thought as long as it had the 6 outputs it was)
    anything i need to change in the audio setup on the dvd player

    btw dvd is this one

    Your dvd must be compatible and output the disc correctly or it will just output it in stereo.
    The link doesn't work but i checked out the players on the site and non are sacd compatible so it looks like you are waisting your time, the outputs will be for the dolby digital and dts decoders in the dvd player.
