Has anyone got one of these

I bought a VAES555 about a year ago and use my old STR930 for the two additional speakers, I'm thinking about buying a STR5000 to replace them both

    any comments would be appreicated

    thanks

I got one today after agonising on what to buy. I could not really afford or justify anything more than what I paid for the Sony. £748 at Superfi BTW:D

I've hooked it up and it sounds pretty good on 1st impressions. It's ability to drive 4 ohm speakers was a big factor in my purchase.

I'll let you know more when I've had a bit more of a play.

Yes, I would too as I haven't heard any views on the new Sony ES linup. The older generation of Sony ES amps were quite good, with the 777 being exceptional. They weren't the most powerful amps in an outright sense, but they were very tolerant of tough loads, from what I remember. Whether this transfers to the digital amps used in Sonys current lineup will be interesting to note. What did impress me was the quality and configurability of the amp's decoders. You could actually listen to the Cinema DSP's.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but it did seem relavant to me!

What are your impressions on this receiver?

    Is it worth the £750?

    thanks
