    hiya hope someone can help.

I've just got my 3200ES amp today and its fantastic, got PS3 and and Sky HD hooked up to it.
I've got Sky box connected by HDMI to HDMI 2 on amp and Optical cable to Video in on amp.
Problem is i can't get 5.1 from sky box via optical
How do i get 5.1 sound to amp from sky box?

Have you got 5.1 output enabled from the optical connection on your sky box?

And I assume you do realise you only get 5.1 from programmes that broadcast with 5.1? i.e 24, lost and the football on the HD channels etc?

Other than that the sky box wont send 5.1 down the HDMI cable so if your amp is taking sound from that rahter than the optical you wont get 5.1 so your amp may need tweaking to take the video from HDMI and the sound from optical. Try switching audio inputs on the amp and maybe you may get 5.1 sound but no picture which would indicate your audio and video and aligned.

    Hi Allfallsdown,

I have my Sky HD optical out connected to my 3200ES TV/Sat input. I have the HDMI out from Sky connected to HDMI1 on the 3200ES. I then had to do an HDMI Video Assign of HDMI1 to TV/Sat, see pp92 in manual.

You have to set the Sky Optical Output to DolbyD.

This should work OK, good luck.

thanks for your replys got it sorted now.
Did'nt realise you had to switch to optical input after selecting HDMI, but now getting sound via optical.

Just one more question, is there anyway of viewing an input while the amp is off or does it have to be on if you want to watch anything?
